My real estate career began in a fly shop, of all places. I first earned my real estate license in 1999 while working at The Fly Factory in Grayling. I was amazed at the number of people from all points of the country were interested in riverfront property in Grayling and the surrounding area. After a three year stint with Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realtors in Elk Rapids, I founded 45th Parallel Realty, L.L.C. in 2004 along with two partners. All of us saw the trend with huge brokerages achieving success not through customer service, but by taking huge numbers of listings and selling a relatively small percentage of them. We were convinced that a small, boutique type brokerage, providing exceptional service and marketing to our clients could flourish. Within the second year, we were the number 10 brokerage out of 140 in the Traverse Area Association of Realtors with just the three partners as agents. Each year since 1999 I’ve spent tailoring a marketing program and gaining knowledge in order to provide a level of expertise in the sale of recreational, and especially riverfront properties, that cannot be matched. I founded Homewaters, L.L.C. in late 2006 in order to provide the ultimate resource for buyers and sellers of recreational properties. My wife, Mandy, and I are both licensed realtors and we work together to ensure that our clients receive the highest level of professional services available in today’s real estate market. We share time between our primary home in Traverse City and our cabin on The AuSable River near Grayling. Our two young daughters, Autumn (5) and Brooke (2) ensure that things never get boring and are showing a real interest in the rivers and lakes that we spend most of our time around. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we may have two more avid women anglers in the family some day!
