Being part of the HomeWaters real estate team seems a logical destination in my life and career. As a young boy growing up in southeastern Michigan, my outdoor activities always gravitated towards water. Whether swimming and fishing in summer or ice fishing and playing hockey on the frozen lakes in winter, there was always the attraction to water. Fondest memories are of pitching an old blanket over a taut rope and camping near the waters edge listening to the rhythmic sound of waves. As a teenager, travel and college took me to the northern regions and the Upper Peninsula. A whole new world of water was beckoning me. From the mighty shores of the great lakes to the pristine streams that feed them, I knew that exploring new waters was in my future.

Over the years there were many excursions. Very few that did not involve water. Michigan’s lakes and rivers were the playground. Occasional trips out west, Alaska and Canada were exciting but Michigan was where I knew my home water would be. In late fall 1989, my wife Anna and I found and purchased our getaway cabin on the North Branch of the AuSable River. This is where I had fished and camped for years while trying to become more proficient with a fly rod. By early winter we were frequent weekend travelers to our new cabin. Our first winter was magical and I couldn’t wait for spring and the trout opener to arrive.

There’s a saying that goes…“Work is just something I do between fishing trips”. Early in my career I held positions in the retail industry as a Creative Director specializing in visual marketing and merchandise presentation. Eventually, feeling the need to have more flex time I became an independent sales representative working with retailers, marketing firms and brand manufacturers.

In 1999, we decided to renovate and expand our river cabin to a year round home. Since 2000 we have been full time residents on the river. As a result, I became a licensed agent in real estate. Combining my sales and service experience and knowledge of the regions resources is a perfect combination in assisting my clients who are looking to find their home waters!
