Black Lake could be classified as the forgotten lake within the Inland Waterway. The lake has a surface coverage area of 10,130 acres and ranks as the seventh largest inland lake in Michigan. The lakes maximum depth is slightly more than 50 feet with an averagae depth running just more than 20 feet.
What literally sets Black Lake apart from others in the Waterway is its elevation. At 613' above sea-level, the lake sits nearly 20 feet above Burt and Mullet. These lakes and their connecting watercourses make the entire region a haven for boaters and outdoor enthusiasts.
Black Lake lies primarily within Cheboygan County though a portion of the lake is found in Presque Isle County.
