Little known and little fished, the Rapid is one of the real sleeper streams in Northwest Michigan. It empties into the Torch River just downstream of Torch Lake and is seasonally home to some of the larger fish from the lakes. Small steelhead in the spring along with occasional Atlantic Salmon and oversized brown trout will make their way into the Rapid from Torch and Elk Lakes. The location of the Rapid is terrific for those looking to be close to other amenities. About 20 minutes will get you into Traverse City, and quaint smaller towns like Alden and Bellaire are just around the corner.
